My name is Christine and I am a Registered Dietitian & Certified Diabetes Educator.  While I’ve always been interested in nutrition, I became interested in diabetes when my father was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes several years ago.

My latest endeavor is http://FOODPICKER.org – a website to help those with diabetes make better food choices.

In the United States, 24 million people have diabetes and an estimate 79 million have pre-diabetes.   There is a direct correlation between what a person with diabetes eats and blood sugar.  Uncontrolled blood sugar leads to complications.  This is why it is so important to control blood sugar through diet, medications, healthy body weight, and exercise.

I started this blog for diabetes and nutrition related discussions.  My hope is to provide a credible discussion of nutrition and diabetes related topics.  Please feel free to add your diabetes experiences, comments, questions, etc.
